Throughout the aging continuum, some of our members can benefit from additional assistance to help them remain independent, safe in their homes, and engaged in their communities. Lending a helping hand is part of the ethos of our organization – neighbors helping neighbors is essential to what we do. Whether you are a member who wants to help other members, or someone outside the membership who wants to be more a part of the community, there are a variety of ways to help that fit your schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, or periodically) and interests.
Volunteer Testimonials
As a member, Cambridge Neighbors nourishes me in so many ways through their stimulating programs and social activities. Getting to know other members as a volunteer here – providing rides and companionship – is my favorite part of belonging to this wonderful program. It has been life-changing for me. — Catherine, volunteer
My most significant experience in volunteering has been as a “friendly visitor.” I visited an elderly gentleman weekly for some time. I found the experience fulfilling and over time he has become a true friend of mine. My visits reminded me of the times I would spend with my father. I think the most value to my volunteering with Cambridge Neighbors has been in establishing a personal connection with someone and I hope to continue doing so. — Phil, volunteer
